Madman’s appeal to have 5 sec Stop-Go penalty removed: Decision – Penalty stands (inconclusive evidence)
The incident where Madman spins at turn 7 on lap 4 was extensively looked at with the angles we had available and even played at slow motion to see if anything concrete could be found. Unfortunately, we were unable to determine whether Madman was fully on the brakes all the time during his spin, or whether he released the brakes slightly enough for his momentum to be sent in to MichaelC, which caused MichaelC to also spin. Unfortunately, due to neither driver having streamed or submitted video evidence, the only angle we had was Vern’s commentary stream, which does not get the best angle of the spin.
If Madman had been on the brakes all the time during the spin, we would have removed the penalty. But on the contrary, if the brakes were released and that was the reason why MichaelC was caught up in the incident, then the penalty then again could have been removed but the ‘Causing a collision’ penalty could have come in to play.
But as a result of the inconclusive evidence, the 5 sec Stop-Go pen that the game issued out to Madman stands. No additional penalties or licence points are to be issued out.
